Spiritual Development
WHCS is committed to the spiritual development of our students through academics, special activities and discipleship from our teachers.
Why Christian Education is important?
As your children are growing and learning, they will begin to form their Biblical Worldview through their education and friendships. That’s why the decision to put your children in a school with Christian education is such an influential one. Under the right education, they will learn to view their life through a biblical perspective and base their decisions on a biblical basis.
Ways we provide spiritual development:
Chapel every week
Student-led worship
Bible lessons in every class
Christian educators and coaches who love to mentor their students.
Opportunities to support the people of Honduras
Short-term Missions trips to Guatemala
Opportunities for them to use their God-given talents in the community
Opening Prayer every morning
Retreats for Middle and High school students
Theology
The Bible is taught from a conservative Protestant perspective, and, as much as possible, is integrated into all of the courses of study – not just Bible class. WHCS does not hold one translation of the Bible to be superior above all others, but at times designates the use of certain translations for the purpose of uniformity.
Chapel Services
Chapel services are held every Tuesday (Elementary) and Thursday morning (Middle/High School). The school features speakers from local Bible-believing churches, Christian organizations, or strong Christians in occupations other than ministry.
Missions
Winter Haven Christian School is committed to expanding God’s kingdom beyond Polk County, FL. Each year we send our Seniors to Guatemala for a missions trip before graduation, and our elementary students are given the opportunity to support foreign missions in Honduras through various projects and chapel offerings.
Retreats
Fall and winter retreats are offered to students in the middle school and high school. During the retreats, the students will join together for recreation, fellowship, worship, and challenging messages. Leaders from the community are invited to provide spiritual input and leadership during the events. The retreats give opportunities for students and teachers to get to know each other in an informal environment, and to minister to the spiritual needs of the middle school/high school community.
