Missions at WHCS
Why Missions Matter at Winter Haven Christian School:
At Winter Haven Christian School, we believe that Christian education goes beyond the classroom—it’s about living out our faith in action. Engaging in local and foreign missions allows our students to develop servant hearts, share the love of Christ, and gain a deeper understanding of God’s work in the world. Through hands-on service, outreach projects, and mission trips, we empower students to make a lasting impact, grow spiritually, and see firsthand how faith and compassion transform lives. Join us as we equip the next generation to be Christ’s hands and feet—both in our community and across the globe.
Annual Senior Missions trip to Guatemala:
The Senior Class will venture on their annual mission trip to Guatemala from May 7, 2025 - May 10, 2025. This mission trip has been a yearly tradition for WHCS students since 2016 (excluding the years when COVID restricted travel). During this time, the team of students and staff will be able to present Vacation Bible School and provide meals for several hundred children. Their goal is to be the hands and feet of Jesus through this process, and they hope to meet their spiritual and physical needs.
They will minister and share the gospel as they visit different homes in the area and install water filtration systems. Clean water is life changing for these families, and we know God will be glorified through their efforts.

Foreign Missions Focus in Elementary School:
At Winter Haven Christian School, we introduce our youngest elementary students to missions in a simple yet powerful way—by collecting “change for the children.” Through our missions giving program, children learn the joy of generosity as they gather coins to support Asociación Building Hope in Honduras through a partnership with Central Church of Christ in Winter Haven. This hands-on experience helps them understand that even small acts of kindness can make a big impact. By giving from their hearts, our youngest students take their first steps in becoming compassionate, mission-minded followers of Christ. Information for Asociación Building Hope, can be found on this website.
Local Missions and Service Days
Each year, our students in grades 6-12 participate in local service projects as an outreach to the community of Winter Haven and greater Polk County. The organizations served by our students include the Mission of Winter Haven, Meals on Wheels, Spring Lake Nursing and Rehab, the Winter Haven Police Department, and the Lake Wales Thrift and Care Center.
